Yorkshire Creative Programmer for 2012 Cultural Olympiad
Role:
Tessa has recently joined the team leading on the curation and programming of the Cultural Olympiad in Yorkshire. She is one of a national team of regional Programmers and act as Yorkshire’s representative on the London 2012 Culture, Ceremonies and Education team.
Background:
Tessa was most recently Director of Arts & Business Yorkshire, and a Fellow on the Clore Cultural Leadership Programme (Yorkshire Forward funded) 2005-7. She has recently completed a research project on the moving body, dance and the brain. Tessa’s early career was in the professional theatre, project management and commercial media in London. She has lived in Yorkshire for 19 years, where she has worked in organisational consultancy, strategic and business development for the cultural sector, writing management training dramas and arts education. She was also Chair of the BBC’s Regional Advisory Council and a member of the English National Forum.
Interests:
Tessa supports the performing arts activities of her children and sees as much theatre as possible in the region and beyond – especially dance. She also enjoys visual art, film and media. Her musical tastes range from Shostakivich to Ska, via celtic roots, Chopin and electro-jazz. She travels whenever possible and has a keen interest in international arts and culture. She attempts to keep fit through regular Pilates and running.
