Manager, Yorkshire committee for the 2012 games

 

Role:

Bec manages the overall coordination of the Yorkshire Committee for the 2012 Games and is responsible for overseeing the delivery of Yorkshire Gold - the Yorkshire and Humber's Strategy for Seizing the Opportunities of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. She works closely with the executive chair of the committee, Martin Havenhand and the chief executive of Yorkshire Culture, Gary Topp as representatives on the Nations and Regions Group for London 2012.

Background:

Bec has spent over ten years working in the theatre industry as both a performer and manager in the U.K. and Australia. She has also worked as a production manager for an online distribution technology firm for the travel and tourism industry, a director of a web solutions company with internationally renowned blue-chip clients (including Tourism NSW - for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and Paralympic Games) and as a voice coach to corporate executives and MBA students.

Bec has also worked as Artist Liaison and Programming Coordinator at the Sydney Festival in 2004/05/06 working with artists and companies including Taraf de Haidouks, Robert Wilson & Company for ‘The Black Rider’ (a Barbican production), Hal Wilmer’s Tribute to Leonard Cohen ‘Came So Far For Beauty’, Au Cul Du Loup and cellist Robert Cohen.

She holds a Diploma of Performing Arts from the London Academy of Performing Arts, and a Bachelor of Creative Arts (International) from Macquarie University, Sydney.

Interests:

As long as she is always on the move, experiencing other people’s creativity, hearing different languages, discovering new art forms, challenging her ignorance, contributing in some positive way to her environment and feeling the heat of the sun, then she is interested.
