Building Schools for the Future
The BSF project is focussed on assisting Local Authorities and Schools to work collaboratively to realise the potential of cultural developments and the value these provide to local communities specifically from a sports and arts perspective.
Yorkshire Culture employ the BSF Project Manager who is based at Sport England with funding support from Arts Council England. Responsible for developing and initiating new ways of working with the education sector and cultural agencies the Project Manager is also tasked with ensuring that the best case is made for culture when key decisions are made concerning development of schools within the programme.
Some of the highlights of the project from last year were the securing the three year funding agreement from all partners, raising the profile of culture in the education sector, influencing national responses to the BSF program from Sport England and The Arts Council and the launching of the website to support and add value to these activities.
Building upon these excellent results the project has continued to cultivate and expand the scope of its influence. The project website has received praise from the Commission for the Built Environment and an award has been secured from Sport England’s Regional Sports Board to fund a dissemination event with Priesthope Sports College in Leeds. The BSF Culture Conference was also attended by over a hundred key delegates with overwhelmingly positive feedback.
The project has built significant momentum since inception and once more Yorkshire Culture are at the vanguard of a broad, cross-sector partnership which is achieving national impacts.
